🇬🇧 How to contribute to the realization of artistic projects

How can you contribute to the viability of my artistic projects? I am Nycka Nunes, a visual artist and photographer. Photographic equipment...

🇬🇧 Interview with Nycka Nunes - Part 2

When you are scouting a location and looking for a place that will host the scene, what determines that you have found the right place?

I always have in mind what I want to convey. And anything I want to convey can be conveyed in many ways. When developing photography projects, I already create them with an eye on what kind of place suits my intentions. When doing commissioned projects, I also have a concept in mind and a sense of what kind of place would be interesting to develop the concept. I have been creating visually (mentally visualising the desired result) since childhood, so it comes naturally to me.

How do you deal with moments of transition and turn them into something positive to allow yourself to move forward?

I went through many ups and downs during the period when I was healing from a series of traumatic situations, which was my career transition period between leaving the fashion industry and becoming a professional artist, without much room for other options. I chose to share the experience of these changes in the form of art and content creation. Art is my way of talking about things that I know many people will not understand through words. I am resuming the project "Nycka, the Nomad", one of my previous blogs, to talk, on my current blog, about my lifestyle, sharing the trips I take to photograph, with some content about my personal style, and other inspiring topics, in addition to talking about the works of art that I create. The blog becomes a channel for verbalising things that are relevant to me and parts of my routine that can show those who are interested in my artistic work who the artist is. My art expresses the unspeakable and the content aims to show a little of who I am.

Where do you find inspiration to create your art?

Inspiration usually starts from within. In some cases it comes from seeing a charming place, or wanting to transform an excerpt from a book into an image, or seeing a piece of clothing with a super creative design and wanting to create an image that includes it... but I have avoided the path of creating images just for the aesthetic appeal. The visual arts projects I am developing usually start from a theme that I want to approach in a subtle way, open to interpretation, and I work to create images that represent the issues I want to address within that theme, without being literal. Although photography is generally used to capture what exists, my intention is to create images with purpose, avoiding clichés. I want to use photography as an element of artistic production in a different way than what we normally see, which is why I always prefer to use the expression works of art rather than photographs. The projects that are currently in the fundraising phase, both the project "The Many Nuances of Love" and the project "Inner Balance", have this characteristic. Both are very different from each other in the process of producing the images, but both have characteristics that I want to bring to all my works that use photography as the main tool. Anyone who wants to know more can check my blog to find out how to contribute financially to the realisation of these projects and offer their contribution.

If you could describe your photography, whether its style or general theme, what would it be?

In a few words, I would say that my photography reveals the beauty of my inner universe. And I am talking about professional photography. I hate taking pictures with my cell phone and most of the images I take for social media are taken using a cell phone camera. I even thought about changing that, but with the growth of artificial intelligence in social media, I prefer to stick to my decision.
